Dope Boys Video Banned?

So rumors are circulating that The Game’s new video for Dope Boys was banned from the television for being too gritty and raw. These kinds of rumors pop up from time to time for other highly anticipated videos and it always make me scratch my head.

The Game is a gangster rapper. He talks about gangster things and recently spent time in jail. Why do the music channels try and water that fact down? I can turn on my television at any time and see people getting shot, premarital sex, and a host of other immoral type behavior. Just because it’s a music video it shouldn’t be held to a different standard than other types of media.

I miss The Box. Somebody could make a mint if they took that concept and adapted it to the internet. Still, like it or not, videos are entertainment and its borderline bullshit that artists have to jump through hoops just to get their videos played.

Here’s hoping that if this isn’t a publicity event and that a high quality version of the uncensored video gets put out. Shit, with Thisizgame.com and the other hip-hop sites, Game could still get the original version out to the people that really want to see it and make a PG-13 version for MTV and BET.
