Dr. Dre: Bishop’s Grow Up was a Mistake; Detox 75% Done

Vibe Magazine recently put out it’s 15th anniversary issue. It’s got interviews with a bunch of huge names and is actually worth purchasing. Among other things, the issue had a brief interview with Dr Dre. The interview covered a few interesting tidbits (did you know that Dre considers the Marshall Mathers LP his best album?) but mostly covered Dre’s past.

The interviewer recently posted up some information about his experience conducting the interview. When he talked with Dre, he claimed that Dre said the that Bishop Lamont’s new single Grow UpWas a mistake; it shouldn’t have leaked.”

Another interesting thing to note was Dre said the he was “ 3/4ths the way through Detox”

I’ve gotta say that even though Dre may think the Grow Up was a mistake, I recently heard the track on my local “Hip-hop” station which rarely strays from the formulaic top 40 type tracks. If this station is playing Grow Up, it’s certainly not a mistake in any sense of the word.
