Dubb Union Album Review

So the Dubb Union album was released yesterday. I’ve gotta say it’s been a great summer for West Coast albums. Cube, Game, and Now Western Union have all brought strong efforts.

I had a hard time finding this album yesterday. I went to Best Buy and hit up the “D” (For Dubb Union) section, but to no avail. Turns out I was looking in the wrong place. Check under “S” for Snoop Dogg Presents: Dubb Union. I had to ask a clueless employee to look it up for me and I fucking hate incompetence. They told me they didn’t have it, so I had to find it myself.

First up, the bad things: It appears that Koch screwed up pressing the CD. One of the best tracks on the album is ruined thanks to a pressing error. Dubb You! featuring Kurupt and Traci Nelson skips twice. I had to roll back to the store to exchange the CD and the replacement skipped too. I’ve contacted Koch for an official response and I’ll keep everybody updated on what they say.

Now to the good things: Everything on this album sounds great. The production is top notch and Dubb Union doesn’t disappoint with the lyrics. The Intro “Hata Talk” is one of the best tracks on the album and it gets the album off to a superb start. Damani Tells listeners why Soopafly is the best, Bad Lucc Tells Listeners why Damani is a force to be reckoned with, and Soopafly sings Bad Lucc’s praise. If it sounds confusing, it’s not. Buy the album and peep it yourself.

I also enjoyed Sing Language, Don’t Like You Girl, Turn It Up, and Back Talk which was my favorite track on the album. Produced by Hi Tek, each Dubb Union member talks about dealing with a mouthy bitch. It’s a great track and I’ve included a streaming version of it below.

All in all, it’s a very strong album and I’d recommend picking it up. It’s got some good replayability and all in all it’s a great introduction to Damani, Bad Lucc, and Soopafly.
