Good Week For Gangsta Rap

Last week was excellent for gangsta rap fans. I’ve got a roundup below of the best new tracks that dropped.

First up, we’ve got Roccett with a REAL heater called Respect my Gangsta. I’ve been telling people for the longest that Roccett is one of the tightest up and comers out of the west, but for some reason people just don’t listen. If this new track doesn’t wake people up, I don’t know what will. Over something that sounds right out of 1993, Roccett drops TIGHT ass verses about how people need to respect his gangsta. This is a well crafted track and it makes me want to hear his album even more. If you haven’t heard Roccett yet, check back this week for a writeup. Props once again to DJ Ill will for dropping tight shit.

Next up I’ve got the Remix to the new Game single “Big Dreams” featuring Ya Boy. Cool and Dre produced this track and it’s supposed to be the street single to Game’s new album L.A.X. The response to this track has been huge and overwhelmingly positive. The beat hits nice, Game drops nice verses and I really like how Ya Boy sounds on this track.

Finally, we’ve got the remix to Glasses Malone’s single Certified. Featuring a BUNCH of rap heavyweights, it’s nice to see Galsses getting some love. Lil Wayne, Bun-B, and Kam all add their touch to the track. I like the track, but to tell you the truth it sounds a bit crowded. Still, it’ll be getting a large amount of play from me.
