Internet Killed The Video Star

If you follow popular music at all, you’ll remember the track Video Killed the Radio Star. It was the first video played on MTV and it was a commentary on how video was changing the music industry. Long story short, the main idea was that video changed the way consumers digested music. Instead of focusing solely on hearing music, visuals also now played a part.

Time marched on and the industry adapted. MTV and music videos became an integral part of any major album. Fast forward to 2008; anybody can put together a decent looking video and upload it to YouTube. High quality video editing software is available for a modest price, and High Definition camcorders are available for under two grand. This is a paradigm shift in the industry and artists should embrace it.

The West coast has truly excelled in this area. From the Crazy Toones CT Expierence DVD to Hot Dollars new street video, the West is putting out superb street/viral videos. I’ve got a few great ones below so check them out after the break!

Ya Boy - 100 Bars of Death

Bad Lucc - Bang That Shit
