Is Aftermath Releasing Bishop Lamont’s New Single in Secret?
Last weekend, a snippet of a new unheard Bishop Lamont track was released on the internet. The story that was posted along with the track is that DJ Whoo Kid played it on his mix show on Sirius Radio Station Shade 45.
With anticipation for Bishop Lamont’s album exceedingly high, many people rightfully assumed the song was Bishop’s long sought after first single: I Dominate. Did Whoo Kidd make a colossal mistake and play Bishop Lamont’s first single before it was ready? Is Aftermath judging reaction to the song by leaking a short snippet? Is this song even I Dominate? Doubtful.
There are some very interesting things about the track that rightfully raised eyebrows. When the chorus hits, Bishop raps about his album like it’s already out. That makes me think this could be album material. Then again, Bishop refers to his mix tapes as street albums so he could be talking about that. There is also a voice which sounds eerily similar to Dr Dre (I think it’s Bishop). The beat itself is truly some next generation type music as well. With futuristic sounds and hard hitting orchestra and bass, the song sounds very nice. I doubt it has the crossover appeal to take Bishop to the top of the Billboard charts, but I’ve been wrong before. There is no doubt that whatever the song is called, it’s quality.
After listening to the track a few times, some thoughts came to mind. Although the production sounds tight and kind of Dr Dre-ish, word on the streets is this one is done by Dready Beats. Talk is that this is one of the songs off the upcoming Whoo Kid and Bishop tape entitled collection plate. Could I be 100% wrong about this song? Without a doubt. One thing’s for sure: if Bishop is going to be giving away these types of songs, his album will be bananas.
